The edged weapon collection of the Polish Army Museum is one of the largest in the country – it contains approximately 6,000 artifacts!Due to the vastness of the material and the limited scope of this publication, the author decided to narrow the thematic focus exclusively to sabers. Even their sheer number – around 1,350 artifacts housed in our Museum – may impress museum professionals, collectors, and many other readers, making the selection of the 100 "most precious" sabers an exceptionally difficult task.

The album presents Polish sabers as well as a few particularly interesting examples of European sabers, which, in the author's subjective selection, best reflect the richness of the Polish Army Museum collection. Many of these sabers belonged to national heroes, while others attract attention due to their craftsmanship or the use of noble materials. The main criteria for selecting these objects were historical value, state of preservation, design solutions, and their current availability to the author. For this reason, some artifacts lent to other institutions are not included in this publication. Some sabers feature original sword knots and frogs, which have not been presented in earlier albums or catalogs.

We hope that this publication will attract the attention of those interested in history and militaria and will contribute to a greater appreciation of the largest and perhaps most valuable collection of edged weapons in our country.
